Shopeen Staff Outing
Management would like to thank the Committee of the Cart Bus Carriganima and especially Joan Kelleher for organising it. Dan Kiely our driver was outstanding to make sure all our needs were seen after and he regaled us with stories during our journey.
The first stop was Ballymaloe for breakfast and garden tour and some of the Staff had a chat with Rachel Allen, lovely Lady. Then set off for Ballycotton Lighthouse where we climbed the winding grassy walk to the Lighthouse with our Guide John who went into every detail of the History of the Lighthouse and its Keepers absolutely fascinating. Then we climbed the Lighthouse, what a view from the top, would highly recommend it, but not to the faint hearted. We returned to shore and headed for Shangarry where we visited the Kilkenny Design Centre.Last stop Lee Valley Golf Club for Dinner. A most enjoyable day.
Kilmichael Pitch & Putt Club
On this August Bank Holiday Weekend we hel our Annual Open in Kilmichael. The weather was more favourable than first expected. The sun shone, the scenery was beautiful, and the course challenging. People of all ages came to play, from young people in their twenties to young at heart people in their seventies. What other sport can accommodate such a broad age spectrum Many cups of tea were had, and plenty of analysis done, on the shots that were nearly got and nearly missed Sincere thanks to all our sponsors.
The stars of the show were: Singles 3 to 8 Nett Dan Cronin, Kilmichael; Gross Derek Daly, Corkbeg; 9 to 15 Nett Jeremiah Horgan, Kilmichael; Gross Padraig O’Shea, Roscarbery; 16 Nett Kay O’Keeffe, Kilmichael; Gross Frances Murphy, Kilshanig; 2 Ball Scramble Winners: 1st Nett James Cotter, Kay O’Keeffe; 1st Gross Paudie O’Sullivan, Noel Collins; 2nd Nett Derry O’Sullivan, John Friel; 2nd Gross Noel Collins, Conor Clancy; 3rd Nett Jeremiah Horgan, Dermot Foley; 3rd Gross Con O’Sullivan, Paddy Murphy. BOHERBUE
Book shop
In conjunction with the Tidy Towns Pride of Place entry, a Book Depository is now located at the entrance to the Handball Alley and adjacent to the Primary School which was designed and constructed by Breen Construction Joinery and erected by three generations of that family.
Jeremiah provided the transport from the warehouse to its new home and assisted in securing it into position.
His son Con who built the unit was on the forklift, hammer and fixings while Con’s son Aaron assumed the role of safety officer and traffic controller.
It was simply delightful to watch a family team at work. Well done!
